One year ago, Mateo made the decision to be baptized. At just six-years-old, this was not something we took lightly, and we spent time in prayer as a family and met with both the children’s director and pastor of our church before encouraging him to take this step.  At our church, Celebration International Church of Wayland, baptism is most often done during the teen or adult years, when the believers choose to commit their life to Christ in front of the congregation. So I was surprised to hear Mateo asking questions about baptism at such a young age. But the more we talked to him about it, the more we saw his motivation was earnest and his understanding of what it means to be baptized and what it means to follow Jesus is perhaps beyond his years.  So please watch his beautiful testimony and story and remember Paul’s words in his letter to Timothy: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, ...
